Karen Christianson
Karen Electra Christianson is a senior at Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she is studying music and molecular biology. Karen began her organ studies at age 8 with Alan Morrison, chair of the organ department at the Curtis Institute of Music, in her hometown of Philadelphia.
Since then, Karen has given more than sixty solo recitals at some of the most prestigious venues in North America and Europe, including the Washington National Cathedral, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Metropolitan United Church in Toronto, Canada, the Bovenkerk in Kampen, Netherlands, the Salzburg Cathedral in Austria, and the Munich Cathedral (Frauenkirche) in Germany. Karen has performed extensively in England, including at Gloucester Cathedral, Coventry Cathedral, Norwich Cathedral, and Ely Cathedral. Last year, she performed her second solo recital at Westminster Abbey, where she gave her London debut in 2013 at age 17.
Karen has also been featured in regional and national radio broadcasts, including "From the Top" on National Public Radio.
